Sea Defense #1 : Sea Wall

The first sea defense can be found around the sea front. It's one of the main structures at Pantai Morib that helps stop strong waves from hitting the shore.  Seawalls are created to protect the base of the land and building against erosion. The disadvantages of having a seawall include their tendency to erode away as they do not decrease the wave, only reflect the power of the wave back into the ocean. Located right in the heart of the action, The seawall in Pantai Morib; over the years, has been slowly eaten away. Their first mistake, was in building the seawall they did not shape it to be curved. Due to that, the wall is not in great condition. In attempt to maintain the original wall, someone has gone and updated the wall poorly, having layered two more levels of concrete granite ontop of the original structure in attempt to 'add' the curving effect of an actual sea wall. This is an unefficent way of managing the beach at Pantai Morib. Obviously being a cheap attempt to protect the coast, the wall needs constant maintaining due to the terrible execution of the original wall.

Sea Defense #2 : Concrete Revetment

Another Sea defense that can be found at Pantai Morib is the placement of concrete revetment with a complimentary rip-rap. This sea defense is a lot cheaper than the seawall and is more efficient to the issue of coastal erosion. This is a sloping feature which breaks up or absorbs the energy of the waves but may let water and sediment pass through. Rock armour or riprap consists of layers of very hard rock with the largest, often weighing several tonnes, on the top. Riprap has the advantage of good permeability plus it looks more natural.

But this is not the case for the sea defense located in Pantai Morib, although the revetment is in good shape and works well to protect the coast, the rip-rap consists of large bricks and boulders that have been terribly placed in our to protect the land. It's displeasing to the eye as it looks like a dumping ground for old bricks by the locals (which it may even be)

This type of defense works well with defending the coast but is extremely displeasing to the eye. Evedentally this could cause a decreasing amount of people wanting to come to the beach. A lot can be done to fix the appeal of the sea defense, firstly the random bricks can be replaced with nicer looking rocks, to give it a more 'natural looking' effect.
